Becoming a Member
Someone has observed that the church today is like a football game - an event where 50,000 spectators desperately needing exercise, sit in the stands watching 22 men on the field desperately needing rest!
All too often that statement is right. The people watch and the pros perform. We all have a need to belong, to be needed, to work together for something bigger than we are. God planned that the local church would meet that need for Christians. We see the church as a team in which everyone has a function. Church membership is not merely "church attendance" or an entry on a list somewhere, but it is what every player is to the Detroit Lions - an essential partner in the cause of the whole.
Therefore, membership at Fellowship Bible Church involves the following four commitments:
- A commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ by trusting Him as Savior,
- A commitment to water baptism as a believer,
- A commitment to the "Membership Doctrinal Statement," and
- A commitment to the body as a whole by worshiping and serving the Lord as a part of the team.
Would you like to join this team? Our pastor would love to talk with you about it!
Resolve to be more than a spectator. Be an active participant in the work of Christ's church here at FBC!
